From an original concept by artist Hilary Champion, the Post War Orchestra imagines an era when there is peace worldwide and there’s simply no need for military equipment. This equipment, including deactivated weapons and other paraphernalia, is recycled and transformed into musical instruments.
"Turning Weapons of War into Instruments of Peace"
This early film concentrates on a the construction of a breath-controlled midi interface - which the PWO nicknames 'The Bazookaphone'. While this prototype needs some refining, it still proves to be a fully-functional, chromatic instrument. At the end of the film you can see a CGI 'Imagineering' of what a large-scale ensemble of PWOers might look like, on stage, in the Future.
